Getting Around

Downtown Omaha covers a large area: from the Missouri River on the east to 24th Street on the west, and from Cumming Street at the north to Bert Murphy Ave. at the south. Parts of the Downtown are flat, though hilly to the west and south, with sidewalks that connect throughout the area.
The distances between major attractions such as the Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium, Lauritzen Gardens, the RiverFront, Durham Museum, and Joslyn Art Museum can be walked, but transportation options make the commute much more convenient.

Lime scooters, accessed via the Lime app on iOS or Android, and Heartland BCycle e-bikes, accessed via the BCycle app, are available for use throughout Downtown Omaha. There are taxis available, either through ride-share apps like Uber or Lyft, or through city taxi companies. Transit east and west on Dodge Street is provided by Metro area transit -- ORBT, or Omaha Rapid Bus Transit. ORBT uses Umo to pay fares, which can be used as an app or with an Umo Smart Card.
Omaha is working on completing a modern streetcar system that will run east and west from 10th Street to 39th Street. The Omaha Streetcar is expected to begin operating in 2028. The Streetcar will have 13 stops between Downtown Omaha and the Blackstone District, and can hold 150-225 passengers per vehicle.

Private and public tours of Downtown sites can be arranged through Ollie the Trolley. Ollie the Trolley provides open-air trolley cars that take you throughout Downtown Omaha, and can host between 32-47 passengers. They also have smaller passenger vans that can be hired for tours or transportation usage.
